I looked at the recipe and wondered if only life came with the right ingredients and skills to make it five star!
What makes a life successful and ‘tasty’ then?
Is it skill? Ingredients? Time? Imagination and training? Can it still be a good life if some of the elements are hard and challenging?
I can honestly say that I don’t think there is a sure fire, absolute formula or recipe.
It does take time. It does take many ingredients. But most of all it has to taste good to you!
You are the one going to have to eat it.
I remember years ago I couldn’t boil water. I was an unconfident cook and I was scared that what I made was never as good as everyone else’s cooking.
After having no choice I decided I had to start sometime. And I did.
I made a lot of mistakes and a lot of inedible dishes but I can honestly say that today I can make a meal and I even collect recipe books!
Many of the skills needed are similar to that of life.
Learning when to add a bit more spice, salt, herbs and sugar when needed is also an important step in the process.
Being able to start from scratch and enjoy it when it doesn’t taste so good is another lesson I have learned too.
I don’t pretend to be a Michelin chef on these matters but I am confident enough that when it all boils down to it, I have used the ingredients I have, I improvise when I have to, and I when I share what I make, I only share with those who are going to appreciate the time and effort that I have gone to, or otherwise it is a waste of a precious meal.
