Years ago when I was a young child my grandmother gave me one of the most important advice, and like the child I was, I ignored it in favour for what was in her fridge or pantry.

Oh that old cold drinks fridge!! Complete with bottle opener stuck to the side of the refridgerator!

Anyway… I digress

She said. And I quote. “…believe half of what you see and none of what you hear!…”

Come to think of it I can’t even remember what she was talking about.. But it was pure. 100%. Genius.

Who would have thought the little old 4 foot nothing lady was a grey haired yoda!?!

But anyway… What does this mean.

People have a tendency to believe all the lies they are told. Very few want to have to find the truth out for ourselves. So we believe the lies politicians say, media and magazines. They WANT to believe what they hear. It saves a lot of time and effort.

However. When it comes to what we see. Well most only see what we want to see.

There is a physological term used to describe why people see what they want to see and are easily misdirected.

When you think about the fact that so many people are dying, starving, tortured and in pain all over the world. It’s easy to ignore it because we don’t have to see it and we are not always told about it. Take a drive in rural Africa or South America and you would see a different story.

The example of a person with an autoimmune disease or chronic illness is another example of people who suffer from people believing what they want and seeing what they want.

No one can see the damage and pain going on inside. So they believe it can’t be true. Yet we are losing so many of our wonderful men and women to these terrible diseases. Mothers. Fathers. Teachers. Professionals. Tradesman. Musicians.

All with these hidden diseases but all suffering terribly. All needing your care, support and respect.
